In 1991 Marlise Senzamici enrolled in a fresh water fly-fishing class. After a month of learning to tie flies and enough to be self-sufficient on a stream, Mike, the fly-fishing instructor, planned a trip with his group of dedicated students to Hot Springs near Mammoth so they could try out all that they had learned. Mike’s list of supplies and gear to bring on the trip wasn’t as long as the ride up there and Marlise, not wanting to be stuck on a stream without the right stuff, followed it to the T. This proud photo of her first day fly-fishing is the all-inclusive result right down to the large Polaroid sunglasses and wide-brimmed hat. The high-tops were a replacement for size 5.5 woman’s wading boots which were on order but hadn’t arrive in time for the trip. This photo was unique and would clearly show what she was up to while living in California. But she needed an inexpensive way to send it to her family and friends. Greeting cards with letter rate postage would have been too expeensive. The light went on and developed into what is known today as
PhotoPOSTOS.
Ok, ok so this proud photo is a little goofy and continues to garner a lot of laughs but it was THE photo that inspired the self-adhesive postcard concept and PhotoPOSTOS.
